The night was Friday, the 27th. I was supposed to go to LVMS to run at Midnight Mayham but instead after work I turn the key and it goes click. I do my normal thing and pulled the pos. Battery Cable and placed it back on and click it does it again. I did this for about 5 times and noticed that there is something wrong. ??So I decided to pull the Alarm from under the seat then try again at this point, no power to system anymore. Even tho I’ve secured everything I am not getting power to system. ??Trying everything possible, after 2 hours of troubleshooting I said F it and called Quality Quick Tow. ??$85 later and 3 – 4 hours after work I finally got her home.
This is the old Battery cable connector, it’s old & crusty and will not give a solid connection to the battery post. So from there I’ve stripped the positive cable and the other side of the connector. Picked up a universal connector that looked like it will work for what I was going to do. I had to drill / modify the??original??fitting so that it can fit over the screw portion of the universal fitting.
So This is how I fixed it, now it gets a solid connection to the system. But that wasn’t it I still got the click dead system reset battery syndrome.I thought it might be the relay since most of the plastics has turned to dust in my hands. But no After repairing the wiring with it, it still held a charge. ??With the battery being at a 100%
So I’ve pulled this starter, and had them test it to be sure and yep it was fried! Replaced it so it fixed that issue, next was the??mysterious??power issue. There was a negative wire next to the battery a 16 guage wire.
