The first! Drift Adventures for 2014

Well it is time for a change up, I support grass roots drifting so I went Saturday to drift at VD030 but due to my new work schedule I ended up showing 2 hours later then I needed to be. It sucks, all I can do from here on is improve myself for this. I might be really putting my fun time a side a bit until I get more grip of both my finances and my car now I can keep rambling on about what I need to do but I rather get on with my blog about my fun day.

I kinda got angry with myself but I wasn’t sure if I was going to or not, I was a bit afraid that I might break my car. Never nor less I left my house around 9am showed up at 10am. Checked in and got my car inspected, I throw on a pair of used tires and tossed myself in the skid pad, where I went to start my practice. I started with a few doughnuts then a few figure 8 then I started to overheat and my first set is toast at the same time. I went to pit and grab lunch, at this time I went down and snapped a few generic phone pictures.

Around 1pm is I put on the federals RSR959’s on and I have challenged myself to drift on. I assumed at the time they where 40 psi but ended up being 33 psi. After a few runs on the track it was just being way too grippy, and I had Waylon give it a try. And he couldn’t handle it it was driving a whole new car and my rear tires being at 33psi we drove over to a tire changing place to fill up to 60psi.

Waylon tried again but still no luck with her, so I took the wheel and I still struggled with the first initiation but I did Clear the second turn with a nice long drift.

I was offered to drive Waylon’s car a turn. First his seat was tight as hell, and I couldn’t fit the seat belt as I am a bigger person. At first his car ws tricky at first and very intimidating but it felt extremely easier then my car, more like push clutch and instantly drift. Then it started overheating 🙁 so i continued on my road with my car and rocked the second corner some but this is where it got bad I couldn’t see the road as the sun was setting I kept getting blinded by the sun so I ended up going off roading alot of times.

After that few runs I went to the skid pad and finish up the last set. This was the time for shut down, as the sun sets it was closer to 5pm.

My car feels like this guy in California Julian’s car, my goal is to get as good as he is. I am pretty sure I am on that road already

Best of Vegas 11/24/2013

2013-11-24 11.09.40Vegas Drift / IFO 2013, today was a great day. I woke up late because my Alarm was set for yesterday at 8am, so I rushed and got my tires and tools loaded.

Then off to the races made it there about 10:30am 30 minutes after starting point, unloaded my tools, tires, and canopy and then I was off to tech inspect. Repping the group 220 that I joined a few months back. Awesome guys, and glade to see them out there doing the IFO as I was doing Vegas Drift.

Once the tech inspection was done I tossed on the first pair, that was balding Federals RSR’s this was technically a mistake as I should of at least put 70PSI in to make the tires not so grippy. With the tires on I was understeering bad.

This setup was a one track  and over 20+ cars so each run was like 15 – 20 minutes waiting in line but atleast it wasn’t like at the IFO where it looked like each run was like 30+ minutes long.  At start the track was intimidating with all the K-Rails but when I drove it once I was like, pfft. I let her rip when I started driving with the federals they got more grip as I run them more which is was causing me massive under steer by the 3rd run.  So I swapped tires and put on my 50psi zeon tires and when I did that they started the mini competition.

I chilled watched the comp go on,  when they are done I jumped back in my car and drove her some more. I was a bit sketchy with my rear end. But I was more paranoid then anything else, but I was fine every run I opened her up and give no fuck just as long as I had fun and gone for gold. I practiced the original clutch kick but this time I played with Shift Lock and attempted braking drift a few times.  there was a few times I connected 90% of the course.

I feel really accomplished with my car this night. She gave me 0 issues what so ever. That is it for this year, 2014 will be coming soon and I have  a few plans this next year.

I didn’t take many pictures due to I was driving all event, none stop and this is a plus for me normally I would be done 1 – 2 hours before closing.  I feel very accomplished, very proud of myself, and I had the best fun yet this year. The Best of Vegas is defiantly my day.

All Star Smash! I mean Bash!

20131019_085742

Last minute decision I decided to hang with my bud Waylon and head to California for the weekend, sounded like what I have been looking for. A hoodoo – Touge NW – Drift X clone once again a weekend of camping, a party, and waking up to burning tires camping once again.  I loved hoodoo back in the 2010, opened my eyes up to a sport of the grass roots of drifting.

The Streets is an awesome first part of the track. This is a google map of the overview of the map below. This felt like an  one of the awesome tracks I have ever been to so far, they ran the track counter clock wise Saturday and on Sunday they ran it clock wise.

Saturaday night they did drift teams competition, that was awesome to see 4 – 7 car drift train teams some awesome to see.  Few wrecks, a few cars blew up out there it was purely epic weekend no one was hurt.

Spike Chen’s car did burst into flames, but it was minor and was repaired in time giving his epic super charged whining is back to the grind. I did see a few rear brakes get soo hot they ended up glowing really red and one brake system completely burst into flames on a 240sx as I was charging my phone.

the-streets

One of the epic times of being out here was to check out an S12 with a similar build to Fairlady-Silvia.

Julian’s awesome s12, rolled once a while back, but epic times I had the honour to ride along with Julian, he’s very beast with his s12, taught me a few things with my car already.
As a day later, I drove my s12 with much more confidence now. It really feels good to drive my s12 with out the fear anymore.  I even connected a small sweeper coming out of the garage at work today is how confident I feel with my car now. The vg30e isn’t an LSx nor it’s an RB motor, the VG is beast and cheap motor that comes stock in the 87 – 88 cars like my Fairelady-Silvia Project and Julian seems to have mastered his car very well, he has his precision driving down even learned a few techniques while driving. So when I get my z31 arms modded and ready to install, I will defiantly upgrade the E-Brake to an Hydro E-Brake System. I give mad respect to Julian with his driving skills, another inspirational s12 driver in I hope to one day tandem with.

Saturday night, was a huge party. Everyone practically except for me was drinking, I never been a drinker. Never will be, but anyway, everyone was getting shitfaced, stripper pole was setup but no strippers dafuq?  music playing  and dancing and other drinking games was happening.

The Horse Theif Mile is one Crazy Course.  It reminds me of the Touge I would see either on the cartoons or in youtube videos of Japanese drift in the touge.
I am glade they opened this course up, it was amazing drift track setup.  Only epic crash is someone going off course with their 350z and broke their front suspension.

Here is a videos I found on youtube.

Horse Theif Mile

Overall, even as a spectator. I had fun it is something I really need, it was a great weekend to get out of vegas too, for something I was looking for again since 2010.  Check out the gallery here.

The uprising…

Well in account of Raven dying with a blown head gasket, I always see the bright side of things as when there is darkness there is the light, might be faded, but never nor less there is a light.

My Fairlady Silvia was able to be smogged and then registered, ontop of that I picked up a second s12, 1986 200sx (s12) CA20e  with a 5 speed.
The Demon project, I have a few things in mind for her already in the 2014 time. In the mean time I plan to just get her up and running and become my new daily.

Raven is now gone…

That time came at the worst possible moment, First I had exhaust issues that is causing my o2 to act really weird. I get that fixed then all of a sudden Raven started to over heat.

Driving home as quickly as possible, it over heat to a point I had to pull over on the freeway.  The next day I did an oil change then proceeded with a fluid change, when I fire it up head gasket went boom and oil and coolant mixed together. That was my last straw, Posted on Criagslist for the last time and sold her for $650.

RIP: Raven

You will be missed even though the hardship you have created and the times we spent together in my need of a time of once a reliable car.
